Statement of the Organisers of the Nuremberg Moot Court 2022 concerning the disqualification of the Russian Team

Following a public declaration made by the Russian Union of Rectors in support of the act of aggression launched by the Russian Federation against Ukraine in blunt violation of the United Nations Charter and the Nuremberg Principles upon which the Nuremberg Moot Court is based, the organisers requested the Team number 2022-48, representing Kutafin Moscow State Law University (Russia), to comment and distance themselves from the statement of the Russian Rectors which justifies and supports the serious crimes being committed against a sovereign country and its civilian population.

Since the Russian Team failed to respond to our request, we have today informed the Team representing Kutafin Moscow State Law University that, in accordance with Rule 20 (3) of the Nuremberg Moot Court Rules which expressly states that inappropriate behaviour may result in the disqualification of the Team at any stage of the competition, the Team has been disqualified.

The organisers of the Nuremberg Moot Court are looking forward to welcoming all students and Teams from all countries that believe in the Nuremberg Principles and in respecting international law and peace.
